Restorative/Sustainable Forestry Through Horse Logging
A presentation by Jason
Rutledge of
Healing Harvest Forest Foundation
Our organization is a leader in a small but growing "treeroots"
movement, promoting restorative, sustainable forestry. It was
started by several modern horse loggers, private forest landowners,
environmental educators, foresters and inspired individuals.
Our
mission statement is:
To address humans needs for forest products while creating a nurturing
coexistence between the forest and human communities.
Extraction from the natural resource base is usually ruthless,
wasteful and damaging to the ecosystem. Our efforts are the "best
forestry we know" and we would like to share that work with
anyone truly interested. We believe that what is best for the
ecology is best for the economy and communities.
We believe in bottom up change, by empowering the lower ground
level workers with the skills and environmental ethics to practice
restorative forestry. Our presentation is based on our efforts
to accomplish our mission statement though the work of our organization
and it's relationship within the communities of interest and forested
surroundings.
The presentation, including slides, can take from 45 minutes
to 1 hour depending upon questions asked. We also have available
a video and brochures for your viewing and reading pleasure. We
are thankful for your interest.
