WILSON MOUNTAIN TIMBER SALE
(James River Ranger District)


UPDATE: The Wilson Mountain timber sale was approved earlier this summer (2006). VAFW plans to formally file its objections to this timber sale in September 2006.

WILSON MOUNTAIN LOGGING PROPOSAL:

3.8 miles of roadbuilding and bulldozer/tractor firelines, 177 acres of logging, and 42 acres of prescribed burning above Iron Gate, Virginia. The project is located on a high ridge above the water gap of the James River. Rich cove forests up to 135 yrs. older and lowlying forests adjacent to the Cowpasture River could be affected by the project.
