The seminar will concentrate on information sharing through expert presentations by Clint Trammel and other foresters, augmented by multi-media presentations to illustrate the information being shared. The seminar will also include a field trip to a nearby sustainably managed forest.

Pioneer Forest is the quintessential example of sustainably managed forests. Missouri Senator Wayne Goode, stated, “Over 50 years ago, [Pioneer Forest owner] Leo Drey began purchasing ‘overcut’ forest land, turned that land into a sustainable forestry operation and has proven that single-tree selection harvesting can be profitable and environmentally sound. He has influenced forest management and conservation policies, which are now utilized on private, state, and national forest lands.”

The management objectives of Pioneer Forest are to constantly improve the quality and value of the forest through the application of environmentally sound silvicultural practices and, at the same time, make a profit for the owner. These objectives can be applied on any size holding, large or small.

Clint is the Forest Manager for the last 30 some years; featured on NPR in the last year, it is the premier model forest and he is the guru. He helped start the Forest Stewards Guild and has been given numerous awards for his achievements.
