Virginia Mountain Treasures

Virginia Forest Watch is pleased to present Virginia Mountain Treasures, a video slideshow celebrating 130 unique wild areas in the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. These special places are home to pristine creeks and streams, rare and endangered plants and animals, majestic old growth forests, and breathtaking unspoiled landscapes.

A truly collaborative project, Virginia Mountain Treasures incorporates words, images, and music contributed by people from all walks of life - from hikers, kayakers, hunters, and bird lovers to authors, musicians, businesspeople, and wildlife biologists. Together, they pay tribute to some of the last roadless areas in our state, and express their concerns about the future. The video also details the history of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests, discusses threats, and calls for everyone who loves Virginia's forests to take decisive action to protect our remaining wild lands.

After decades of intense development, these irreplaceable treasures are the most intact wild areas we have left. Please share this video with others and join us in honoring and defending our Virginia Mountain Treasures - for there are no other places like them on Earth.
